Morning eukharistia

I am not a morning person, but I discipline myself to get up anyway, and step out into the cool newness of a spring day. I thank God for legs that carry me, ears that pick up the clamorous calls of a grackle, a nose that detects the sweet smell of life all around me, and eyes able to discern a limitless cobalt sky gently veiled around the edges by soft, grey, billowy clouds. This morning reminds me of how small I am and how vast our God is.
