So very grateful for our healthy third daughter, Hope Olivia (her names mean “with anxious expectation” and “God has protected me”). We lost two before she was born and her pregnancy was so difficult. From the moment she breathed her first breath our Hope became a living reminder to be grateful for all truly is grace! We found out this week that an illness I have could have killed or disabled her in the womb, but again God graced her with health. Shortly after she was born I longed to understand more about gratitude and read One Thousand Gifts during those sleepless new born nights. It so changed my life. My husband, not my friend, was the one who began to notice the difference. I am so grateful for the way this book has deepend my faith that I joined a summer book group about it and developed a plan to help my girls understand and practice gratitude as they grow up. You can see our plan here. The verse in the front of their journal and mine is Psalm 50:23. Grateful for this book that led me closer to Jesus and for a healthy baby girl to share it with.
