Life is not fair! When a father walks in and tells his wife he doesn’t love her and breaks a promise to love, honor, cherish, til death us do part and abandons a family, there are scars! Deep, bleeding, scars and life loses it’s innocense and children are left with so much anger. Anger and unforgiveness. It leaves them looking for love and acceptance and security in others because Dad has said “I don’t care” when he walked away.
This past weekend, my nine year old granddaughter was a witness of God’s forgiveness and love! By an act of sheer will she forgave her father for this unspeakable wrong. She forgave him because she said, “I realize that God has other plans for me, not to harm me but to give me a hope and a future!” Jer 29:11.
Tears blur vision as I type these words beautiful. Is this not what Easter is about? Could anything be more holy than this? Could our Savior find anything that would make Him smile more? Is this NOT why he chose to die.
What a blessing! What a gift, the Spirit of the Lord, living in a tender heart, doing His convicting and filling with love and forgiveness only He can give! To God be the glory, and I am undone. Thank you Father, for this answer to prayer, for protecting a child’s wounded heart from bitterness. Thank you for her Godly mother, who has walked this rocky road with her and despite her own pain, led her to the Cross. Thank you that you let me witness this sacred event, the blood of Jesus applied to sin and it is all grace, pure as snow.
