Thankful to be 9 rounds into a 12 round protocol of chemo, for the second time, at the age of 37 for stage 4 colon cancer – a preventable cancer that is easily treated if caught early. Mine wasn’t. I’m thankful because I’m not dead. I have a 6 year old attend to, and she needs her mama. I’m so thankful God has sustained me so far over these past 3 years. I’m a long way away from healthy, but I’m still standing, still cooking, still working at my job. Still snuggling her to sleep. Still strong enough to be mom. But only because of Christ who strengthens me and my amazing support network who holds me up in many ways. My heart cries out in pain and fear occasionally, but through Anne, I’ve learned the way back to sanity is simply gratitude. Thanksgiving. Eucharisteo. I’m writing a book to tell me story. I’m grateful for the chance to do so.
