In the moment

A half a hundred daffodils
Dancing with abandoned thrill
The hover of red dragonfly
Honesty deep in now dim eyes
Aged tree branches gnarled and bent
The haunting honeysuckle’s scent
Rising towards a sickle moon
That in turn will spherical bloom
Toasted bread with melted butter
A fallen leaf cradled in the gutter
Silence on the mountain side
The rhythmic hum as I ride and ride
Shifting shadows of the dawn
Straggly acacia flower adorned
More delicate than golden crewel
More beautiful than kingly jewels
A butterfly drifts casually by
At peace today tho’ tomorrow she’ll die
In the moment my eyes see
One thousand gifts just for me.
