“Dad” is gone, my father in law of 39 years. A giant of a man. He loved his wife of 69years and treated her like a queen. He loved to fly. His passion was the sky and soaring high. Now just a few days shy of his 95th birthday, he is soaing higher than ever before. He is in the presence of the God of the universe, the Son of Righteousness and angels praising. No he was not perfect. He showed favoritism. He did not always make wise business decisions and he failed to communicate. However, he loved the Lord, was generous to his church, was a faithful husband and he loved and accepted me, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, into his family. In todays world, that is a life well lived. He has suffered with dementia for many years. Today, he thinks clearly, sees clearly, is at peace and rest, and reunited with his oldest son. Today, I give thanks for his life, for his faithfulness to his bride and for the lives touched by this gentle giant who carried 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 3 geat granddaughters high and secure. A living testimony of how the Lord carries us through this world if we let Him. Tomorrow we will celebrate his life. He will be missed until Jesus returns or calls us home.
