Last weekend we had a terrible hail storm with hail stones from 3 inches to softball size. It ruined our roof, damaged out gutter and the usual “stuff” but the think that really upset me was our flowers. They held the promise of a beautiful and colorful summer, but the hail stones beat them down, ruined our hostas and hydrangeas and the annuals I had just planted. This morning, as I walked past one of my beds I noticed petunias getting ready to bloom. What a wonderful surprise. In the midst of destruction, there is hope in the form of a petunia. It reminded me of Isaiah 58:11, “And the Lord will continually guide you and satisfy your desire in scorched places and give strength to your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.” Whether in the storm or the desert place – there is hope in the Lord
